Summary: The Social Media Manager a multi-skilled, creative and well-organized social media
professional on our social media team.The Social Media Manager will be tasked with elevating the standard of content across our tournament channels.

This person will work as part of a lean team, running the WTA’s social tournament channel output to help meet our objectives of engaging and growing our global fan base.

This person will conceive, develop and implement innovative content concepts in alignment with our editorial, video production and brand/graphics team to promote each of these events. This person will be able to capitalize on key narratives within the sport and communicate and package the key narratives related to each tournament all year round in a social-first way.

The role will require this individual to post daily; work as part of the social and digital team, and as a member of the marketing department they will also be charged with working collaboratively with other internal departments including commercial, PR, communications as well as our external partners.

A positive attitude and flexible working approach is an absolute requirement in what is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. He/she will be proactive, inquisitive and must have an excellent knowledge of tennis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing the WTA Tour’s social media strategy for our owned events
  • Day-to-day management of WTA tournament channels
  • Day-to-day collaboration with WTA digital and social team
  • Day-to-day collaboration with our external partners
  • Devising and delivering content ideas
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships, business-wide
  • Being the guardian of the WTA’s tone of voice on our social media platforms
  • Delivery of partner digital rights on social media in coordination with the commercial department
  • Demonstrating excellent, true ‘fan engagement’ and two-way communication with supporters.
  • Working with our analytics team to optimize output; reporting on reach, engagement, referral and growth metrics based on data
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required by line manager

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience running sizeable accounts in the sports industry
  • Leadership and management of social media teams
  • Someone with experience of working with a team of people across different time zones

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • A deep knowledge of – and passion for tennis and the wider sports social industry landscape
  • Graphic design skills
  • Video editing skills
  • Someone who is comfortable to make decisions in high pressure situations.
  • A team player who must be comfortable working under their own initiative.
  • Understanding and is passionate about social media
  • High-level understanding of tennis
  • Someone who understands the importance of tone of voice and organizational values – but also someone who isn’t afraid to test and learn.
  • A creative, confident, passionate individual and who understands effective storytelling on social
  • Work in a fast-paced environment across a truly global workforce
  • Someone who is comfortable to make decisions in high pressure situations.
