Summary: The Website Editor writes and creates content for wtatennis.com. This role produces and promotes online content about the WTA, its players, tournaments and partners. In addition to creating a variety of written, photo and video content for the official website, the role is also responsible for liaising with the IT team on technical performance and on ad hoc maintenance issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce editorial content for WTA’s website. This includes written, photo, video and audio assets with a focus on player and tournament-related content
  • Create well-written and engaging stories to showcase the on and off-court action from around the WTA Tour
  • Ensure all content across the site is accurate, up to date and SEO-friendly, while also adhering to the WTA’s tone, voice and style
  • Support the Editorial Director to keep the WTA’s website publishing calendar on track and setting the website’s short and long-term strategy
  • Generate new ideas for stories and features to promote the Tour, players and tournaments
  • Liaise with staff members, player agents and tournaments to collect digital content for publishing
  • Consistent and ongoing coordination with the social media team
  • Liaise with website’s audience to resolve their queries
  • Cooperate with IT team on technical issues to optimize website performance
  • Support sales and sponsorship efforts as they relate to the website

Desired skills and background:

  • University education in Digital Media, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or equivalent background
  • 3+ years of previous experience in digital environment, journalism, agency client service or tennis / sports entertainment
  • Strong editorial judgement, attention to detail and proof-reading skills
  • Digitally savvy – experience using social media, CMS, website programming and other publishing tools
  • Highly competent with photo, video and audio editing software (examples including but
    not limited to Photoshop and other graphic design programs, Premiere, Audacity/Audition)
  • Adept in interview skills both in person and via phone/virtually
  • Understanding of digital storytelling and optimization of content through social media and SEO
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent in using business software such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    with multiple demands and priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, must be able to liaise with audience, internal departments, sponsors & tournaments
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently. Must be organized and pro-active to
    resolve errors and maximize website efficiency
  • High level of professionalism
  • As this is a global tour, must be willing to work evenings, weekends and unconventional hours
  • Knowledge of professional tennis
