Main goal
To protect football from match-fixing and safeguard the integrity of European football matches and competitions, UEFA’s Anti-Match-Fixing unit works closely with the football family and broader sports community to promote integrity, raise awareness of the threat of match-fixing and identify, investigate and sanction any match-fixing offences.
The Data Analyst, part of the Integrity and Regulatory Division and working within the Anti-Match-Fixing unit, identifies means of improving the unit’s key processes and drives new efficiencies across all unit pillars. In addition to ensuring the quality and consistency of all unit data, they contribute actionable insights to multiple large-scale projects while serving as a trusted analytical partner within the unit and UEFA, supporting evidence-based decision-making and driving innovative approaches to protecting football integrity.
Key responsibilities
Identifying, accessing and cleaning a large variety of datasets, ensuring data quality and consistency
Converting, integrating and structuring data sources to support projects related to the detection, prevention and analysis of match manipulation, player performance analysis initiatives and other strategic priorities, identifying actionable insights and opportunities
Creating, maintaining and continuously improving dashboards, data visualisations and analytical products that support operational, strategic and executive decision-making across the unit, division and among UEFA stakeholders
Developing innovative methods to improve processes and automating data delivery and input within the approved UEFA data environment
Acting as a driver of innovation within the unit, leveraging advances in data science, machine learning and analytical technologies to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen the fight against match-fixing
Leading and supporting player performance analysis projects, including the development and application of analytical methodologies to support expert assessments and integrity-related investigations
Producing recurring intelligence products, including risk assessments, status reports and strategic analyses, translating complex data into clear and actionable intelligence
Leading collaboration with the Business Data Management team within UEFA and applying standardised data procedures with external partners
Collaborating closely with colleagues across UEFA and external stakeholders to understand business requirements, develop analytical solutions and promote data-driven decision-making
Requirements
Experience:
At least 5 years of proven experience in data analytics, data science or business intelligence, working with complex datasets
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in computer science, data science, economics, mathematics, statistics, sports science or a similar field
Languages:
Proficient in English, any other Language is a plus
Other requirements:
Relocation to Switzerland/France is expected
High level of integrity, discretion and confidentiality
Strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and able to execute tasks effectively while keeping the unit’s priorities in mind
Ability to integrate APIs, scrape data from the web and work with structured and unstructured datasets
Experience analysing player performance data (e.g. event or positional data)
Knowledge of Python and dbt for data transformations and programming
Experience with code-based data orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect or Dagster
