At City Football Group, our Data Insights & Decision Technology (DIDT) team have over 20 years of experience delivering actionable insights to practitioners in football clubs and governing bodies across the world. Through ongoing investment in our people, data, technology & processes we strive to continually support the CFG clubs in making better football decisions, faster.

This role will support in the delivery of our football intelligence services across all football functions – Talent Management; Football Performance; and Human Performance – within our City Football Group clubs.


This support will primarily be focused on:

• High quality, reliable and insightful data science

• Engaging communication of insights

• Educating and upskilling the analytical capabilities of football staff



Accountabilities with Key Outcomes: 
Play a key role in the development of our proprietary insights platform, delivering analytical insights to football practitioners across all CFG clubs


Development of models and provision of analytical support to CFG clubs with the aim of developing the quality and value of our players and teams


Play a key role in developing our intelligence & processes in the transfer market as well as having a positive impact on our player trading outcomes


Provide analytical reviews/audits of all CFG clubs from a talent and performance perspective, providing recommendations for interventions



Knowledge, Skills and Experience: 


2+ years’ experience utilising Tableau to drive actions & decision making.


Some experience in Python, R or other programming language.


Insatiable curiosity, imagination and creativity to come up with ideas to tackle football performance challenges and design/implement cutting edge solutions.


Evidence of working with, deriving & clearly communicating actionable insights from football data, either as a hobby or within previous employment.


Creative problem solver with the drive and discipline to learn and develop new skills.


Ability to work in an agile manner suited to the innovative & fast-paced nature of the football industry.


Ability to work with our Data Insights & Decision Technology team to understand the performance challenges faced by our clubs and create


Experience working with both structured and unstructured data-sources including text, video and spatio-temporal data.


Experience with big data tools such as Databricks, Spark, Hadoop or similar.


Experience with Azure, AWS or GCP cloud services or equivalent.


Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools such as Azure Data Factory, AWS data pipelines, Apache Airflow, etc.


Experience working and communicating in the sporting environment.


Written & verbal fluency Spanish and/or French
